Chicago Skyway

The Chicago Skyway is a 7.8 mile (12.5 km) toll road connecting the Dan Ryan Expressway to the Indiana Toll Road in the south metropolitan area of Chicago, Illinois. The toll road has six-lanes (3+3) with 36% of the road elevated.

The Chicago Skyway was operated and maintained by the City of Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation from the time it was opened in 1959 until the Skyway Concession Company, LLP (SCC) was awarded a 99-year operating concession. This was the first privatization of an existing toll road in the United States. Skyway Concession Company, LLP (SCC) is a partnership between Cintra, S.A. of Madrid, Spain and, Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG) of Sydney, Australia. In the consortium Cintra (CIN.MC) held a 55% interest and Australia's Macquarie Infrastructure Group (MIG.AU) a 45% stake.
