BigRed™ - Fayetteville, TX - April 17, 2003
Propane converter (left - not original
equipment). The pair
of hose that cross the picture from the top of the converter are water
lines that prevent the propane from freezing the converter. The
uppermost connection is the incoming liquid propane. The large
hose from the bottom is the propane vapor line that leads to the
carburetor. The ignition coil can be seen at the upper right.
This engine was converted to burn propane gas in about 1969 or 1970 as
determined by the 1969 date of manufacture stamp on the propane tank
that accompanied the siren. All of this equipment is in working
order as evidenced by the running of this engine on April 2, 2003.
