This is the mounting plate that holds a 7½ gallon propane tank on the left side running board (not original equipment).  The propane hose can be seen to the right of the mount.  We do have what appears to be the original tank that fits this mounting plate.  The tank was manufactured by Manchester Tank & Equipment Company, Lynwood, California in 1969 (still in business today).
