average.
At 20-cents per
gallon Texas is tied with Louisiana, Vermont, and the District of
Columbia for 36th highest gasoline tax rate.
New York has the highest rate at 39.2-cents/gallon while Alaska has the
lowest rate at 8-cents/gallon.
The federal excise tax on

24.2-cents/gallon. Texas state tax on diesel is 4.2-cents (17%) below the
national average. At 20-cents per gallon Texas is tied with
Louisiana and the District of Columbia for 37th highest diesel tax rate.
Hawaii has the highest rate at 39.6-cents/gallon while Alaska has the
lowest rate at 8-cents/gallon.
The
federal excise tax on diesel is 24.4-cents/gallon.
