David and Linda attended a neighbor's Christmas gathering.
Shortly after dark the group participated in an Advent spiral ceremony. The site
was a 12-15 foot spiral pattern of green bough. In the center was a lone candle
under the bare winter trees near the farmhouse. It started with a reading. (12.11.04)

Beginning with the children, each would follow the inward
path carrying a cored apple containing an unlit candle while the group stood
around the outside of the spiral singing Christmas carols. Once at the center
their candle was lit from the original candle and they carried the apple based
candle back, setting it along the bough on the path out of the spiral. (12.11.04)

Here Linda lights her candle, one of thirty that would
illuminate the spiral. (12.11.04)
