This is the first time we have ever seen this truck outside
it's storage building/garage (just to the left, not shown). The new fire station
was built in front of the garage door where this truck has been parked for
years. To get it out, just recently, they cut a large hole in the back wall of
the garage and pulled the truck out. (05.15.04)

The labels that said "ELLINGER" have been removed from the
doors exposing the underlying lettering "HEMPSTEAD." Note the hand rails around
the doors of the cab. They were used by firemen who rode to the fire standing on
the running boards. They were probably installed when the tailboard was taken up
by the hose reel. (05.15.04)

Pretty sure the tank and hose reel were not original
equipment. (05.15.04)

Pump controls. Note the 'pump' and 'clutch' hand levers at
the top. Looks like a 3-inch suction and 1-1/2 discharge. (05.15.04)
