Rain Creek Farm
We both took the day off work so that we could take our Chambers stove to
Houston. Of course there's always a few chores to do first and being the
case, David fed the donkeys. This small building is our pump house that
contains our well, pump and pressure tank. In a week or two we plan to
paint this metal building white.

Macy's Classic Stoveworks
Here we are at the side-yard entrance of Macy's Classic Stoveworks Company in
Houston. As you can see, it takes three men just to tip the stove up on
one end so that an appliance dolly can be put into place. Linda grimaces
as she looks on.

Everyone is happy to see the stove down in one piece, especially Linda and
David. Out of the picture (right) is another dolly that the stove will be
transferred to so that it can easily be moved around the shop. Once it was
down on that dolly the owner came out with a digital camera and took lots of
photographs of the stove, inside and out.

Here's a Chambers Model A stove that's being reassembled in their shop.
This is what the top of Linda's stove will look like. The silver rectangle
on the left is the griddle/broiler burner with the griddle top removed.
Again you can't see it in this photograph, but the back of this stove is
identical to ours. The owner tells us that we have a Model A back on a
Model B stove. Not entirely uncommon during the late 1930's and very early
1940's. We're told that the stove pictured here is very late 1920's or
very early 1930's.

David takes a self-portrait with Linda at Collina's Italian Restaurant in Rice
Village. After lunch we did lots of shopping in the Village and in the
Galleria area.

This wonderful sunset appeared as we finished shopping at Lowe's and headed for
dinner at The Cracker Barrel.

When we got home (nearly 11pm) we discovered that another surprise was waiting
for us. The label says, "Will Rogers Saddle Company, Washington."
