BigRed™ - Fayetteville, TX - August 11, 2003

The sixth run-up (August 10, 2003) of BigRed™ was accomplished using the 'original' propane tank.  The siren was gasoline powered until converted to run on propane in 1969/1970.  This 7.5 gallon tank was manufactured by Manchester Tank & Equipment Company, Lynwood, California in 1969 (still in business today).  This style of tank is often called a forklift tank.  Unlike BBQ grills that operates on propane gas, the siren operates on liquid propane.  This 30 year old tank has been recertified, received a new valve and other parts.  Soon it will be sandblasted and painted silver.
