It is the responsibility of the operator assigned to
the Chrysler Air-Raid Siren to make sure that it is in perfect condition
to run at full efficiency at a moment's notice.
The following items should be checked by the operator
immediately upon taking over his watch.

Check quantity of gasoline in fuel tank. (Be sure
there are at least five gallons in the tank.)

Check water level in radiator. (In cold weather
check anti-freeze solution.)

Check oil in crankcase. (Be sure it is up to the
running level shown on the oil level indicator rod.)
- Remove any loose material from the ledge in front of the air
intake to avoid any possible damage to the blower unit.
NOTE: THE ENGINE SHOULD BE STARTED AND RUN AT
IDLE SPEED WITH CLUTCH DISENGAGED, FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE MINUTES, OR, IN
COLD WEATHER, UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMEPRATURE IS REACHED.

To start engine.

Disconnect water jacket heater by removing wire from
cylinder block terminal socket.

Disconnect trickle charger wire at terminal socket
on charger.

Disengage clutch by pulling lever to full rear
position.

Turn ignition key on.

Push starter button in. (Located on left side of
instrument panel.) Release when engine starts.
- Pull throttle control button out until engine speed reaches 1000
R. P. M., as shown by tachometer.
CAUTION: DO NOT RUN ENGINE IN EXCESS OF 1,000 R. P. M.
- Run engine for five minutes or until normal operating temperature
is reached.
- Close throttle and turn off ignition key.
AFTER THE ABOVE SUGGESTIONS HAVE BEEN FOLLOWED, THE
CLUTCH SHOULD BE ENGAGED BY PUSHING LEVER TO THE FULL FORWARD POSITION.
THE CLUTCH MUST BE ENGAGED WHEN THE WARNING SIGNAL IS GIVEN.
Since the power is transmitted to the siren horn unit
through the Chrysler Fluid Drive Assembly, it is not necessary to
disengage the clutch except for inspection checks.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES TO TAKE

EAR PLUGS MUST BE USED FOR PROTECTION BY THE OPERATOR,
OR OTHER PERSONS AROUND THE SIREN.

THE OPERATOR SHOULD REMAIN IN THE OPERATOR'S SEAT AT
ALL TIMES WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.

UNDER NO CONDITIONS SHOULD THE OPERATOR OR ANY
OBSERVERS COME IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE BLAST FROM THE SIREN HORNS
WHILE THE SIGNAL IS BEING GIVEN.
- REMOVE ANY OBSTRUCTIONS FROM THE TURNTABLE CIRCLE OF THE SIREN.
