Orlando Toll's PR man's bribery charge
settled
Ron Pecora the longtime marketing and PR
consultant to Orlando Orange County Expressway Authority (OOCEA)
won't face bribery charges in court after all. State
prosecutors agreed to drop the prosecution without an admission
of guilt from Pecora and in return for 100 hours of community
service.
The indictment against Pecora alleged that
$2,600 worth of tickets to Disney and other theme parks that he
provided to the toll authority's then chairman Alan Keen
constituted a bribe designed to maintain his PR contract with
the toll authority.
This always seemed improbable since it was
Pecora who publicized the case of the unpaid tickets. Also Keen
is a multi-millionaire developer and bigtime philanthropist who
is unlikely to be that cheap to buy.
