Selling Toll Road Could
Be Costly
As Austin debates the Trans Texas Corridor, a transportation
guru warns Texans not to make the same mistake Indiana made.
David Stall with Corridorwatch.com says Texas should look at the
toll road issue from all angles. He says Indiana sold its toll
road to Cintra, the company proposing to build the Trans Texas
Corridor, and found out quickly it was a bad deal for drivers.
He says within six months of taking over operations, they closed
all the turnarounds on a 157-mile turnpike. He says that forced
drivers to go to the next toll plaza and pay again to turn
around.
Stall says private toll roads are not for the public. He says
their objective is to make money.
