One lane bridges were once very common throughout our
rural counties. However, they are rapidly disappearing. This is
Linda on the road between Fayetteville (pop. 261) and Ellinger (pop. 200).

Saturday morning David and Linda spotted construction
signs laying along the roadside in preparation for erection, maybe Monday.
Looks like this one lane bridge is about to become history. So, we
stopped and took a few photographs (surprised?).

As David took photographs of Linda and the one lane bridge
the cows came to see what was going on. Maybe they were thinking
that there was a bale of hay in
the bed of that truck? Fayette County is the second largest cattle
producing county in Texas.

A neighbor's standard donkey family came to the fence to
say hello.

Sunday morning David found two Sunday newspapers, one
scattered along about a 1/4-mile of road.

It's time for the annual Columbus Volunteer Fire
Department fish fry.

David and Linda join a few hundred local fire department
supporters at the Columbus Veteran's Memorial Center.

All four hundred sweepstakes tickets get drawn one at a
time and posted. Those that land on the yellow spaces win.
Unfortunately neither David nor Linda won anything.
