CHRYSLER AIR-RAID SIREN
The Chrysler Air-Raid Siren is a
warning device capable of producing a tone of great intensity and
carrying ability.
The power is furnished by a Chrysler
8-cylinder -industrial engine. This engine drives the siren horn unit
which consists of a blower and a high speed six-blade rotary chopper.
The sound is created by the chopper
interrupting the flow of air delivered by the blower as it passes
through the six ports into the horns. The velocity of air is
approximately 33,000 feet per minute, the equivalent of 375 miles per
hour.
This manual has been prepared for the
guidance of those who operate and service this unit. The mechanical
