Outrage grows over TXDOT latest plan

9/4/2007

KLBJ News Radio [Austin, TX]

"Shock and outrage" is the reaction to news that the Texas Department of Transportation has a plan in its back pocket to put toll booths on existing interstates.

Toll road opponents like Terri Hall of the Texas Toll Party are saying I told you so.

Dozens of local lawmakers have gone on the record saying they would never allow tolls on interstates in their counties. Toll road supporters like Joe Krier of Texans for Safe Reliable Transportation say they didn't know about TXDOT's plans and feel blindsided, but say toll roads need to stay in the picture.
