Headline of the Banner Press announces David's removal as Columbus City Manager. At their very first council meeting, a special meeting eight days after being sworn in, the new council terminates David's contract. At the time of termination David had not yet had a single conversation with any of the new councilmen. (06.03.04)

More than 100 coworkers and associates of David's attend a gathering in his honor the day following his removal as City Manager. Among those in attendance were: the County Judge, County Clerk, Chief Tax Appraiser, School Superintendent, five former City Councilmembers, five local attorneys, numerous community leaders, six city department managers and several other city employees and staff.
