Country Place Hotel, Fayetteville: August 29, 2003

Fayetteville area residents and Austin architect & designer Clovis and Maryann Heimsath are just finishing a huge renovation of their 100 year old building that once served as their office, a restaurant and hotel.  David stayed in this hotel on New Years Eve, circa 1978.  (08.29.03)

After having lunch at Orsak's with Clovis and Maryann Heimsath, David and Linda went to see the progress in the Zapp Building.  Here Linda and Clovis are standing in front of the hotel.  (08.29.03)

A couple neighbors join the tour as Clovis shows Linda the main parlor.  The restaurant dining room is through the French doors and the kitchen is down the hallway.  (08.29.03)

The Moravian Room, the hotel's meeting and banquet room.  Clovis shows Linda a mechanical drawing of the lift elevator against the brick wall.  The drawing will be framed and displayed near the elevator.  A worker paints one of the doors that lead to a garden courtyard.  Other doors (left) allow entry from the street.  (08.29.03)

While the elevator is no longer functional, it has been preserved as a special feature of this historic building.  A glass window has been provided so that we can see the counterbalance weights inside the wall.  (08.29.03)
