Hurricane Claudette

All of coastal Texas watched the growth and progress of Hurricane Claudette.  This is the 4am forecast path on Tuesday, July 15, 2003.  This westerly movement would be good news for Columbus.  Our concern isn't as much about the gale force winds as it is about tornados and rainfall in the Colorado River watershed that could result in river flooding.   (07.15.03)

Hurricane Claudette

This Galveston radar image show Claudette moving onshore.  Fortunately, it continued to move west and away from the Colorado River watershed (Austin area).  Despite the distance away from Galveston, this storm still caused significant tidal flooding in the Clear Lake area where David was once city manager and emergency management coordinator.  (07.15.03)
