Scheel House

This is a photo of the Scheel farmhouse at its original site in the Santa Ana bottoms, near the Fayette-Colorado County line.    (circa 1900)

Here's the site today.  Note the cistern tank in the foreground.  After studying the site and photo I conclude that the house sat on top of the fence in this photo.  I believe that the near cistern is the same as appears in the photo above in front of the house.  There's an iron water pipe that would have extended under the side porch.  The bathroom addition would have extended further towards the camera.  At that point there's a concrete sewer pipe leading out (left) past the cistern to a septic tank. There is also an old road out of the photo to the left that would have led directing into the house as it appears in the 1900 photo.   (09.05.01)

This is an enlargement of the tank in the photo at the top of the page.  The outbuilding in the recent photo has a rain gutter like the one that appears in this old photo.   (circa 1900)

If my placement of the building is correct this photo is from the opposite side as the 1900 photo.  Note that the rivets are in the right place (180° around the tank).   (09.05.01)
